The GMI Oil & Gas Subcommittee focuses on identifying and deploying practical and cost-effective methane mitigation technologies and practices. The Subcommittee’s objective is to reduce or eliminate emissions from oil and natural gas systems by encouraging collaboration between Partner Countries, Subcommittee members, and Project Network members. Through engagement, the Subcommittee aims to build capacity, develop strategies and markets, and remove technical and nontechnical barriers to methane mitigation project development. Ultimately, this support can increase environmental quality, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen the economy from additional methane brought to market.

This document presents introductory guidance on a pragmatic, integrated approach to identifying, evaluating, and advancing cost-effective, high-impact opportunities to manage greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy use at oil and natural gas facilities. The focus is primarily on key sources of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCP). The primary audience for this document includes company managers, facility operators, and relevant service providers outside of North America (particularly where other regulatory guidance for GHG reductions and energy management may not be available).
This document is intended to be a resource for facility owners, operators and government policymakers. The purpose of this document is to provide information about cost-effective measures for detecting and mitigating methane emissions along the full oil and gas value chain at the company- and national-level. Guidance for developing and implementing practices for monitoring, reporting and verifying (MRV) methane emissions is also provided.
COP28, short for the 28th Conference of the Parties, is an international climate summit focused on addressing climate change issues and mobilizing global environmental action. COP28 is hosted by the Unites Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai and will take place between 30 November and 12 December 2023. The major international event brings together heads of state, senior government officials, leading scientists, private sector stakeholders, members of the public, and journalists. The multi-day conference will host talks, interactive sessions, and governmental negotiations on a range of topics including greenhouse gas emissions reduction, adaptation measures, climate finance, and global cooperation in the face of the planets growing environmental challenges.

This summit will tackle the challenge of reducing methane emissions within the context of new energy geopolitics and affordability. In this context, oil and gas operators need to implement best practices to identify, monitor, measure, and eliminate methane emissions, introduce emissions reduction into operational planning, and build a culture of methane mitigation; all while meeting global needs. This summit will gather industry peers to learn skills such as streamlining company-level measurement and reporting of methane emissions data, how to leverage advancements in technology, and to understand what emission technology solutions are right for participants organizations.
The Egypt Energy Show welcomes stakeholders across the energy value chain to explore avenues for growth. The event will address international net-zero agendas, collaboration for sustainable production of oil and gas, and decarbonization. It will also highlight opportunities created by the energy transition.
The International LNG Forum, hosted in Doha, Qatar from 12-13 November 2023, holds great significance as the global gas market undergoes radical shifts due to the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war and the resulting sanctions on Russian gas exports. These developments have created challenges and opportunities, particularly for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which aim to diversify their oil and gas markets and revenue streams. The International LNG Forum will address several key topics to drive discussions and provide insights into the LNG industry. These include the increased global demand for LNG, competition between LNG and clean energy in the future, optimizing extraction techniques, expanding LNG transportation and shipping vessel capacity, building sustainable supply chains, enhancing asset effectiveness and equipment modification, embracing digital transformation, and addressing decarbonization and low-carbon LNG production. The event will also cover important themes related to HSE, LNG storage, cost efficiency, and effectiveness. Over the course of the two event days, delegates will have extensive opportunities to network, discuss the future of the industry, and forge partnerships to advance the LNG industry toward a sustainable and prosperous future.
The International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) / Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) International Drilling Conference and Exhibition is a forum to learn, network, and showcase. Operator companies, contractor firms, and service companies are brought together to address challenges and deliver improved performance. Speakers will discuss technical content, drilling advancements, and cutting-edge technology and the event will provide the ideal opportunity to network and engage with industry professionals over these pressing topics.
The 2024 Global Methane Forum will convene global thought and industry leaders in Geneva, Switzerland from 18-20 March 2024 to promote replicable methane mitigation successes and mobilize action to continue making progress toward addressing methane. The Forum will be hosted by the Global Methane Initiative and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in partnership with the Global Methane Hub and the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC).
