The Republic of North Macedonia joined the Global Methane Initiative (GMI) in 2024 and serves on the Biogas Subcommittee.
The Republic of North Macedonia has made significant progress in reducing methane emissions as part of the country’s comprehensive climate strategies. In recent years, the country has opened its first biogas plant and improved agricultural and waste management practices to achieve methane reduction goals. These efforts, along with the participation in international initiatives, demonstrate the Republic of North Macedonia’s commitment to addressing methane emissions and aligning its strategies with global climate goals.
