This pre-feasibility study was completed to determine the feasibility of a coal mine methane (CMM) capture and utilization project at the Casa Blanca Coal Mine in Colombia. Specifically, this study evaluated the technical and economic viability of methane pre-drainage utilizing long, directionally-drilled horizontal boreholes drilled from within the mine workings. End-use options for the captured CMM were also identified in the study.
