The IEF, in partnership with Kayrros (an advanced data analytics company) launched
the IEF Methane Initiative. This Initiative aims to develop a methane emissions
measurement methodology that helps member countries collect standardized data
that can be used to mitigate methane emissions from the energy sector. The new
methodology will use satellite data generated by the European Space Agency,
artificial intelligence, and advanced algorithms to detect methane emissions
data that can be integrated with corporate data and country-level data.
