In November 2021, the IEA released the report, Methane Emissions from Oil and Gas. This report discusses how policies, regulations, and voluntary initiatives must work together to reduce methane emissions from oil and gas operations. The report finds that approximately 45 percent of current methane emissions from the oil and gas sector could be avoided with no net cost through methane reduction measures.
