The 12th annual edition of UNEP’s Emissions Gap Report provides a global update on emissions pathways and the world’s progress towards achieving national mitigation pledges and the Paris Agreement goals. On its current track, world temperatures will rise 2.7 degrees Celsius by the end of the century, well above the Paris Agreement’s aspirational goal to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. This report examines how the “emissions gap” can be closed to reduce global warming.
