This article presents the coal mine methane mitigation (CMM) opportunities in Kazakhstan that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the near and medium term. The analysis shows how policymakers in Kazakhstan can leverage existing policies to stimulate utilization by extending feed-in tariffs to cover CMM and by developing working methodologies for companies to obtain emission reduction credits from CMM projects.
