ActivityYearsHighlights
Project Technical (design, engineering, and planning)10Large volumes of liquid heating fuels such as diesel, HFO or paraffin are consumed in separating gold from gold-bearing ore. Selectra has commercialised a cost-effective renewable energy system to replace heating fuels and reduce energy costs in the elution process. This world leading application of tried and tested technologies by Selectra was first implemented at a gold mine in South Africa. The scope of the operation was to grow energy crops on mine-owned land, process the crops into methane-rich biogas in an anaerobic digester, and replace the diesel or other heating fuels used in the elution heater and regeneration kilns with lower cost renewable gas
