Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) is committed to contributing innovative scientific and technical education and research to India and the world and serving as a valuable biogas resource for industry and society.

Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute

The Punjab Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (PAMETI) is providing straw management equipment to villages in India. The equipment will reduce the burning of rice straw after harvest, resulting in fewer methane emissions.

Source Facility and BioCity

Source Facility and BioCity partnered to address operational challenges of biogas systems in India. Together, they provide local communities with 2,500 kg of compressed biogas per day and help to meet fertilizer needs in rural and urban India.

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy

The Government of India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is investing heavily in a national strategy to increase biogas production and reduce methane emissions. The biogas strategy includes many policy initiatives, capacity building, and public-private partnerships.

India CBM Clearinghouse

The India CMM/CBM Clearinghouse addresses barriers to methane utilization projects in India. Several commercial CMM/CBM projects are scheduled to be implemented in 2020.

Interested national governments may request to become Partners in the Global Methane Initiative at any time. Governments that join GMI have the opportunity to participate in the work of the GMI Steering Committee, which guides the work of the initiative as a whole, as well as any GMI subcommittees that may be of interest: biogas, coal mines, and oil and gas.

If you're interested in becoming a partner country, send us an email.

The Project Network is a growing community of private-sector entities, financial institutions, and other governmental and non-governmental organizations with an interest in methane abatement, recovery, and use projects.

Project Network members are actively involved in the Initiative and are critical to its success. Working with countries who are Global Methane Initiative (GMI) Partners, Project Network members can galvanize action, setting the stage for methane reduction projects.
