Event Details: The Ministerial Conference, “Meeting the Challenge of Sustainable Development” kicks off the Eighth International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development. The event will begin on 11 June with a one-day ministerial conference followed by 3 days of high-level plenary sessions; workshops focused on topics including renewable energy, energy efficiency, fossil fuels, regional cooperation and project events; and site visits. The conference and forum will be held in conjunction with the opening of EXPO 2017, an international specialized expo that is part of the World’s Fair system. EXPO 2017, “Future Energy,” is focused on promotion and discovery of sustainable, global energy solutions. More than 100 member countries and 10 international organizations, who build and sponsor pavilions, are participating in the event to showcase achievements in the use of renewable energy sources and to demonstrate innovative and practical energy solutions. The June through September event, which will take place on a 25 hectare (62 acre) site in the capital of Kazakhstan, is expected to be attended by more than 5 million people.
