List of Events

Date13 March 2024
Location: Virtual
Industry Sector: Biogas
How are methane emissions estimated in the municipal wastewater sector in Indonesia? Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights and connect with experts in the nexus of water, energy, and methane emissions.
  • Indonesia has reported increasing waste sector greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the last two decades.
  • Municipal wastewater emissions comprise 17.8% of Indonesia’s waste sector GHG emissions is estimated to grow.
  • Emissions calculated using tier 1 methods.
  • Primary data and comprehensive data for municipal wastewater is needed.
As an initial step to progress to a tier two approach, Tetra Tech conducted a pilot in a communal wastewater treatment plant in West Java, Indonesia to estimate methane emissions based on real measurements. This case study is the first of its kind to be done for a communal wastewater treatment plant in Indonesia that can serve as an example and learning opportunity for environmental office officers to enhance their approach in their GHG emissions inventory updating exercise.
