The Global Methane Initiative (GMI) Steering Committee convened for its 20th meeting on 5-6 September 2023. The 2-day in-person and virtual meeting took place at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Delegates from the GMI Partner Countries serving on the Steering Committee participated as well as representatives of several strategic partner organizations.
The purpose of the meeting was to revisit GMI’s strategic priorities and action plan to ensure GMI is most useful to its Partner Countries; learn about technical resources, events, communications and activities completed and in progress; hear from GMI Partner delegates about methane mitigation activities, priorities, and needs in their countries; explore ways to enhance collaboration across methane initiatives; discuss countries’ plans for COP28; and discuss and shape planning for the 2024 Global Methane Forum, including agenda items for the next Steering Committee meeting.
