The Global WtERT Council (GWC) is an international top-tier-technical group that brings together and contribute to high-level dialogue among scientists, engineers, community advocates, the business community, universities and government concerning the objective of advancing sustainable technologies for managing waste management worldwide. It was founded in 2002 as major program of the Earth Engineering Center (EEC) of Columbia University in New York, U.S.A that has conducted since 1997 research on the generation and disposition of used materials and products in the U.S. and globally. Since 1997, EEC has studied all existing methods for managing post-recycling urban wastes. Only two have been adopted widely around the world: Landfilling and combustion with energy recovery (also called Waste-to-Energy or WTE). |
